Today was the perfect Long Island day. I got up, showered, met up with my friends, went to the bagel shop and ordered a plain bagel with cream cheese and a huge ass cookie. Then we all drove out east and went apple picking. Even though it was misty out and we were soaked by the time we finished, we got a ton of apples and I had a great time on our drive there and back. Disney sing-a-long, anyone? Yes, I am aware that I'm 27 years old, but I don't care. Yummy Chinese food after and chatting with friends rounded out the day.
Being here made me really happy. I don't have much nostalgia for Manhattan anymore, but I love me some Long Island. I had a really happy childhood and I love my high school friends. They are so precious to me and I value our relationship and never ever want to let that fade. There's something really nice about still enjoying spending time with people you knew when you were like 13 years old. It's a lot of fun. I also love all of the little Long Island things that I can't do in San Francisco. I know that the Bay Area is where I'm meant to be, but I'm really happy I grew up on Long Island. Sad that I only have one more day of my vacation, but it was worth taking this time!
